It all started with the groove...

For Jay, everything begins there.  When the COVID pandemic brought everything to a halt, Jay found himself in the studio looking for an escape.  That escape came through the groove.  Jay began sending ideas back and forth to his longtime friend, Joe Dean.  The funky rhythms, bass-driven parts, and lyric ideas felt good and lifted the mood.  With Joe's help, Collective In Groove was created.

Inspired by bands like Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, and the Brand New Heavies, the music reflects a simpler, more joyful time.  Collective in Groove is about letting go of daily stress and getting lost in the music.

Keeping things honest and organic, no tricks, just musicians locked into the pocket.  Together, Jay and Joe created a sound that feels fresh but familiar, modern yet rooted in classic groove.

The name Collective In Groove reflects Jay's idea of different players, different styles - one groove.

Because in the end, it always starts with the groove.
